Ever finished watching a movie and sat there containing the urge the scream “That’s not how it should have ended!”? We all have, haven’t we? Well, that was exactly how I felt after watching Thor: The Dark World.
If you don’t mind me being over-dramatic, I just felt cheated. Ok, let’s just run through the storyline here. Super-hot Natalie Portman gets “infected” by an age-old liquid super-weapon that gives its hosts superpowers – also known as the Aether. Thor saves her, and the Nine Realms, in the end. Kat Dennings, that loveable little lady from 2 Broke Girls, continues her comedic touch of gold as Portman’s intern. And yes, Thor and the leading lady continue their pretty-creepy inter-galactic love affair. Legendary Norse God shagging an unrealistic representation of a hot scientist? Oh hell yeah, typical superhero movie, this!
But, like what this topic is based upon, I shall rant about the ending while providing an alternative of my choice. In Thor’s attempt to defeat the evil guy Malekith, who is after the Aether, he reluctantly enlists the help of Loki. I was literally overjoyed at their partnership, mainly because I got to see more of Tom Hiddlestone… I mean, everybody wants that, right?
So, the ending: the good guys triumph, but Loki ends up as the king of Asgard, albeit after posing as Odin. But what pissed me off more was, in the credits, it’s revealed that the Asgardians hand over the captured Aether to some weirdos. Yes, what the hell, right?! Imagine working so hard for your pay, only to hand it over because you “already have too much money that you can’t handle it.” Imagine my disappointment.

The Alternative
Thor saves the universe along with Loki. I mean, Loki’s perhaps the most-loved villain after Heath Ledger’s The Joker. He’s the kind of villain that you just can’t help but root for. He’s the antagonist, but you just wish he was the protagonist. So, Thor and Loki bring home the Aether together, Loki sorts out his daddy issues and the Odin family stops being so dysfunctional. Oh, and they keep the Aether for themselves and not trust Benicio del Toro.
The end.
Tell us what you think!
